The picture to the immediate left and below shows Chameleon Ships Service Turbo Generator (SSTG) controllers.   These generators are responsible for all the electrical power generation for the ship.  Each of the five SSTGs on the ESSEX has a networked Chameleon control system controlling recirc temperature, hotwell level, and gland-seal pressure (both augment and dump modes).  Any of the five SSTGs can be monitored and tuned from any other SSTG on the ship via an RS-485 network.

This picture shows one of the two FAC-2000 boiler control panels on the USS ESSEX.  The controllers regulate fuel feed pumps, water feed pumps, blowers, boiler water level, and boiler pressure.
