| Installations: USS Kitty Hawk
(CV-63)

Similar
to the USS JOHN F. KENNEDY, the eight
boilers on the USS KITTY HAWK provide the steam energy to propel and power the ship.
The 18 FAC-2000 controllers in this photograph are part of a
75-controller system used to control the eight boilers. The controllers are
regulating fuel feed pumps, water feed pumps, blowers, boiler water level,
and boiler pressure, and more.
The feedwater control stations on this ship
utilize a Fairmount Automation FAIRNET network for pump control. In the
2nd quarter 2001 all 75 controllers will be joined in a network that will enable
ships force to monitor and analyze plant information from virtually anywhere on
the ship.
