Fairmount Automation Appoints Accomplished Automation Industry Veteran to its Advisory Board

PHOENIXVILLE, PA—JANUARY 30, 2003—Fairmount Automation today announced that it has retained Anthony M. (Tony) Demark to advise its senior management team on matters of business, marketing, and industrial automation product distribution. Mr. Demark’s career in the process automation industry, primarily within Honeywell International’s Industrial Automation businesses, is particularly notable for his leadership in a number of highly successful product developments that have shaped today’s process automation industry.

“Tony is very highly regarded in the industry for his integrity, leadership, and innovative thinking.   His career accomplishments speak for themselves,” said Dr. Andrés Lebaudy, co-Founder and CEO of Fairmount Automation, “We are delighted that he has joined our team and are convinced that he will have an immediate and profound impact on our business.”

Mr. Demark’s primary role will be to increase Fairmount Automation’s penetration in the Industrial Automation Market with products based on the Company’s proven technology, specifically the newly developed Chameleon® Hybrid Controller.  Chameleon is a high-performance Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) that offers multi-domain functionality—including logic, sequence, motion, and process control—on a single very flexible and highly configurable platform.  Since 1997, the Company has been a leading supplier of rugged control equipment to the U.S. Navy; today its products are controlling mission-critical processes and machinery on more than 25% of the surface Fleet.

Of his new appointment, Mr. Demark said. “I am confident that Fairmount’s success in the military environment will be repeated in the Industrial Controls Market.  Chameleon’s capabilities are unprecedented in that market, and will certainly improve the cost and performance of existing applications.  Also, it is very likely that new applications will be stimulated that to date have been impractical to implement due to the unavailability of suitable products.  On a personal level, I am pleased and proud to be associated with such a competent and energetic team that, in such a short time, has created a successful business and such advanced products.”

Among some of Demark’s most well known developments are Honeywell’s Process Manager 300® Distributed Process Controller and Universal Control Network®, both of which were announced in 1988, and achieved significant market share.

Mr. Demark also developed the ST3000® “Smart” pressure transmitter line, which created a new market upon its 1983 release.  Earlier, he was responsible for the development of Honeywell’s TDC2000® Basic Controller.

In addition to his accomplishments at Honeywell, Mr. Demark served as Vice President of Engineering at Leeds & Northrop where he was responsible for product development and technology management.
