Fairmount Automation Appoints Proven Automation Industry Veteran as Vice President of Sales and Marketing

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA—APRIL 26, 2004—Fairmount Automation is proud to announce the addition of Glenn Dixon to its senior management team, as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Mr. Dixon will be responsible for customer relationship management, product positioning and branding, establishing product distribution channels, and developing marketing strategic plans. Mr. Dixon’s career in the process automation industry spans three decades, includes various engineering, marketing, and sales positions within prominent industry organizations, and is particularly notable for successful stewarding of new product introductions.

“Glenn knows the controls industry inside and out and has a proven track record of successfully launching new products in that market space,” said Dr. Andrés Lebaudy, co-Founder and CEO of Fairmount Automation, “We are convinced that we can duplicate our military sector success in the industrial and commercial automation markets and we are equally convinced that Glenn Dixon is the right person to help us penetrate those segments.”

Mr. Dixon’s primary role will be to increase Fairmount Automation’s presence in the automation markets it serves with products based on the Company’s proven technology, specifically the newly developed Chameleon® Hybrid Controller. Chameleon is a high-performance Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) that offers multi-domain functionality—including logic, sequence, batch, motion, and process control—on a single very flexible and highly configurable platform. Since 1997, the Company has been a leading supplier of rugged control equipment to the U.S. Navy; today its products are controlling mission-critical processes and machinery on more than one-third of the surface Fleet.

Of his latest engagement, Mr. Dixon commented, "I am very excited to join this young, energetic, and innovative group. I recall trying to champion the development of a ‘task controller’ within a well-known industrial automation company a couple of years back. I strongly believed then, as I do now, that industrial machinery OEMs stand to benefit from a small, rugged, and capable controller package that offers consistent programming and operator interfaces. Fairmount Automation has developed that ‘task controller’ I once envisioned—introducing it into the marketplace is a very attractive proposition for me.” He added, “Whenever you can bring control closer to the process, there are cost savings for your customers to reap.”

Among some of Mr. Dixon’s most notable accomplishments are:

· The development and release of the first “open system” model for Distributed Control Systems (based on the Modbus protocol) and companion multi-vendor program to support industry acceptance and application. This highly successful global program created tens of millions of dollars of revenue, and became an early model for open systems.

· Launching and merchandizing of the first “Smart” Transmitters digitally integrated with one of the world’s leading Distributed Control Systems. Attained unparalleled market share growth and a sustainable multi-million dollar global sales revenue stream in less than 3 years.

· Chairing the Honeywell FOUNDATION Fieldbus User Advisory Council, a collaborative user-based organization chartered to advise and guide the definition and development of FOUNDATION Fieldbus technology and products.

· Holds 2 patents pertaining to industrial measurement and sensor technology.
