Engineering Services:
Process and Machinery Control Systems
Fairmount
Automation engineers have a wide variety of process control and
machinery automation experience in military, marine, rail, and
industrial settings. Our engineering specialists have deployed numerous
control systems and are available to assist you with all facets of the
process, including defining system requirements and specifications,
developing preliminary and detailed system designs, modeling and
simulating physical systems, devising and implementing control
algorithms, creating mechanical and electrical installation drawings,
selecting system components, performing reliability and maintainability
analyses, developing test plans and procedures, executing factory
acceptance tests, and providing on-site installation support.
In addition to providing solutions using
our own controller products, our engineers have a strong working
knowledge of products from National Instruments, Echelon, Siemens,
Rockwell Automation, and many others. Our engineers pride themselves in
always striving to identify the device that best fits the system
requirements.
Our extensive software development
experience includes embedded systems and PLC programming, HMI
development, and MS Windows based application software development. We
have a very thorough understanding of industrial networking technology
and can assist in choosing the right network protocol, topology, and
messaging strategy to match specific system design needs.
Occasionally,
unique problems arise for which no solution exists or for which
available solutions are impractical and/or cost prohibitive. In these
instances, Fairmount Automation can create custom hardware and software
solutions to meet the exact need.
Fairmount Automation's Engineering
Services Group follows a proven design process that ensures consistent
delivery of a quality product on time and on budget. This methodology is
flexible enough to apply to large multi-million dollar projects as well
as a small isolated process loop.
A typical example project that Fairmount
Automation recently implemented is an automation system for a bio-diesel
fuel processing facility. This system uses process control and batch
processing to convert yellow fat, trap grease, and other restaurant
waste products into commercially-certified bio-diesel fuel. The modular
design includes distributed controllers, local and remote operator
interface panels, data-logging and reporting, and numerous safety
features.
